Get a Teeny Tiny Micro Braids Hair Style

Micro mini braids style

A micro braids hair style may be for you, if you have the patience to sit down for several hours!

But do not let that scare you because while it can take a professional braider (or a tag team of stylists) a while to complete this hair style, it may last up to four months with the proper braid care.

This low-maintenance style - sometimes called mini box braids - is appropriately popular. There is so much versatility: from daily wear to your special occasion coiffe. You can curl them, do an intricate updo or use a wider variety of hair accessories. Due to the time it takes to create the style, however, the cost can be high (even more so if you choose a complicated pattern).

More often, you will see hair styled in a combination of single micro braids attached to cornrows on the crown of the head that lead to loose falling braids at the nape of the neck.

Of course, like most styles, you can weave in micro braids as there are stores selling wefts that a professional can apply using any number of hair extension techniques. It takes a lot less time to do get micro braids this way.

Whether you use human hair extensions or opt for synthetic, be sure to ask your hair stylist to review your braid care instructions.

If you are doing "micros" in your natural hair, then follow these tips:

  • shampoo with a clarifying hair care product to reduce any residue that wants to gather at your roots
  • air dry and only use a towel similar to your hair color to pat your hair dry if you are in a rush
  • gather your braids into larger ones to reduce fly aways and frizz

Be careful: micro braids can cause long-term damage, especially around the visible edges of your scalp. Avoid this with some tips from trichologist Rodney Barnett, a US-based trichologist two decades of hair care experience:

  • Power up: Vitamins and nutrients are the key to good health and reducing excess toxins stored in the body.
  • Ask essential questions: Add essential oil to your micro braids hair style care routine
  • Address the symptoms: Hair loss is the first sign that something in your body is off kilter. Figure out what it is and fix it before you get braids again, okay?

Follow these tips and you will enjoy your micro braiding experience!
